From the very first time I saw the N. brichardi, I have been fascinated with the beauty and elegance of this species. It also didn't hurt a bit, that this is one of the species you very often encounter with a batch of fry in the pet shop.
When I (temporarily) was getting a bit tired of the Lake Malawi cichlids, I decided to try out 5 princesses and I bought them in November 2002.
Breeding
I placed them in a community tank and they claimed their territories very soon. They have also reached maturity and I have already seen the first batch of fry and the extremely active fry care. This is not exactly optimal in a community tank, as the other fish must take care not getting to close or face a chase all over the tank. N. brichardi is far more suited for a dedicated Tanganyika or single species tank.
